Founded in 2025, Insight Instruments was established by three partners, including two university researchers with internationally recognized expertise in materials chemistry, electrochemistry, and operando diffraction techniques applied to battery research.

Our mission is to design and develop advanced scientific instruments that enable operando characterization of battery materials, allowing researchers and engineers to monitor structural changes in real time during electrochemical cycling.By combining deep scientific knowledge with practical engineering, we provide innovative tools that support the research and development activities of both academic laboratories and industrial partners working on next-generation energy storage technologies.

Meet the team behind Insight

Jean-Noël Chotard

Chief Technology Officer

Jean-Noël Chotard earned his Ph.D. in Crystallography from the University of Geneva in 2004. Since 2009, he has been an Associate Professor in Materials Chemistry at Université de Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV).

His research focuses on materials chemistry, crystal chemistry, and operando characterization techniques, with a particular emphasis on diffraction methods applied to advanced battery materials. He is also deeply involved in the design and development of innovative scientific instruments for real-time analysis of electrochemical systems.

At Insight, Jean-Noël brings more than two decades of academic and technological expertise to the development of cutting-edge solutions for operando materials characterization.

Cédric Chazel

Head Of Partnership

Cédric Chazel has been an Innovation and Intellectual Property Consultant since 2024. He also serves as Fractional Intellectual Property Manager for growing Deeptech companies, providing strategic and operational support in innovation and intellectual property.

Before starting his consulting practice, he managed the intellectual property portfolios of French and European research networks dedicated to electrochemical energy storage, working at the interface between academic institutions and industrial partners through public–private partnerships.

He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry and graduated from the Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle (CEIPI, Strasbourg, France) in 2025.

At Insight, he leads innovation strategy, intellectual property management, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.

Vincent Seznec

Expert in Electrochemistry

Vincent Seznec is a Professor at Université de Picardie Jules Verne, where he has taught and conducted research since 2009.

He is a recognized expert in materials and electrochemistry, specializing in materials chemistry and advanced electrochemical measurements. His work focuses on the understanding and optimization of functional materials for energy storage applications.

At Insight, Vincent provides technical leadership in electrochemistry and materials science, ensuring that the company’s instruments meet the highest scientific and industrial standards.
